A FAMILY BUSINESS STEEPED IN TRADITION

The story of Château La Braulterie is, above all, our story.  The story of a family’s passion for wine, terroir and tradition, spanning many generations. We have built an expertise and know-how which, over time, have enabled us to take full advantage of the unequalled quality of our soils.

Our unwavering commitment to our vines, and to the wellbeing of those who look after them, naturally led us to convert to organic farming.

Château La Braulterie was among the first estates in the Blaye region to produce bottled wines, a real godsend for tourists stopping in Blaye on their way to the Pyrenees, who would never fail to bring back a case of our wine.

To this day the tradition lives on.

ORGANIC FARMING, MORE THAN A CHOICE, A REAL COMMITMENT

A GENEROUS TERROIR

Château La Braulterie spreads across various villages of the “Côtes de Bourg” appellation. The diversity of landscapes allows us to exploit the benefits of a wide variety of soils: gravel, clay-limestone and clay.

Our exceptional location and the unique features of our soils help us produce distinct wines which, after blending, develop unmatched aromatic complexity.

Our wines are round, well-balanced and harmonious and they display generous and lush flavours.

PRECISE CRAFTSMANSHIP

To deliver exceptional wines we follow one simple principle: quality wine can only come from the finest grapes. From pruning to harvesting, each step of our winemaking process is strictly monitored to obtain perfectly ripe grapes.

Each grape varietal is fermented separately, following the principles of Bordeaux’s centuries-old winemaking tradition. The wines are blended on site by Marie-Hélène and Olivier who also rely on the recommendations of a consultant oenologist to create sophisticated and well-balanced wines.

Part of our production is aged in tanks and oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, depending on the wine. After checking the wine’s organoleptic properties one last time, it is bottled at the estate and stored under ideal conditions in our cellar.
